The United Federation Alliance traveled out into the universe to explore and conquer the frontier. To do the scientists create a wormhole by stablizing a blackhole surrounded by a central core. Before they can do so, they had to travel through hyperspace through other means. By using an ion magnetic forcefield, they were able to speed up spaceships to travel the same distance in a short span time.

There was a flaw that wasn't thought out, and it was that there was no way to stop a ship fast enough. Many ships were destroyed before you came to the planet. Your ship survived, but it was too heavily damaged to be of any more use to you. The goal must be accomplished, but you aren't the only one trying to succeed. There are others that came to your planet with you or by the luck of the draw survived by following the same path as you.
